Dior designer John Galliano has been arrested on charges of assault, following an incident where he allegedly went on an anti-Semitic tirade.  I say allegedly because he is denying the charges, although he has already been fired.

I read a statement from the British designer where he said, “anti-Semitism has no place in our society.”  He is right, but not accurate, sadly, about England.  Cases of anti-Semitism have been on the rise in England for a number of years.  It’s sick and wrong, and should be condemned instead of swept under the rug.  Perhaps Galliano’s case will bring this issue under greater scrutiny and will have some effect for good.
