Dior designer John Galliano has been arrested on charges of assault, following an incident where he allegedly went on an anti-Semitic tirade. Â I say allegedly because he is denying the charges, although he has already been fired.
I read a statement from the British designer where he said, “anti-Semitism has no place in our society.” Â He is right, but not accurate, sadly, about England. Â Cases of anti-Semitism have been on the rise in England for a number of years. Â It’s sick and wrong, and should be condemned instead of swept under the rug. Â Perhaps Galliano’s case will bring this issue under greater scrutiny and will have some effect for good.
