Ridley Scott has made some amazing movies, so I was curious about Prometheus, especially since the previews made it look like it had that Scott-epic quality about it. I was epically disappointed (pardon my pun).
I found Prometheus to be far more gross than thrilling or frightening, and I didn’t feel a connection with any of the characters. The whole movie seemed lacking in real character motivation and depth. The beginning scenery shots (filmed mostly in Iceland and Scotland, I believe) were stunning and beautiful, but the movie, for the most part, went downhill from there.
Michael Fassbender was very good, and the other actors were good, but they didn’t seem to have much to work with. Or maybe it was that they had too much to work with. Somehow, the movie didn’t seem to gel–something seemed off about it, and it wasn’t just the bizarre plot. It left rather a bad taste in my mouth, and I was glad when it was over.
