I’m not much of a fan of vampire movies, so I was skeptical when a friend recommended Love at First Bite (1979). He quickly added that it was an older movie, more of a spoof of vampire movies. That got my attention. Spoof movies can be excellent.

Love at First Bite stars George Hamilton as Count Dracula and Susan Saint James as the Cindy Sondheim, that woman he’s after. The movie is quite campy, and the special effects are almost laughably bad, but it seems to be intentional. The movie does seem to mock the stereotypes about vampires.

It’s a strange movie, but not a bad one, unless campy 70s style movies bother you. If not, and if you’re interested in watching a non-Twilight movie, you should check out Love at First Bite.
